Which pests and where?!

There are hundreds of bird, animals and a variety of insects in the UK; within these categories, there are thousands upon thousands of species and sub-species. Pests act in different ways in so many different situations that in order for a Brigg pest control service to be truly responsive, they really need to know pests…

Rats, for example, are naturally suspicious of anything new in their locality. The sudden appearance of a trap or poison will mean that they will find another route in and out of their nest rather than face the ‘unknown object’. Likewise, rats will skirt around the edge of a room or building, as this makes them less susceptible to attack.

Moles are not seen as a pest by many but, when their molehills appear across sports fields, bowling greens and on agricultural land, for example, they can be a real nuisance. However, trapping and relocating the mole (or by eradicating moles by other means) is only part of the solution; in order to discourage any moles from moving in to the labyrinth of vacated tunnels, they need to be blocked.

Insects, such as bedbugs and fleas, need to be treated with chemicals in order to eradicate them completely, but bedding and other soft furnishings also need to be washed and dried at high temperatures. Eggs of the bedbug have been known to survive chemical treatments and so, just when you think you have got rid of them, they come back with a vengeance!

Wasps are also creatures that many people feel uncomfortable sharing their home, garden or outbuildings with, and not surprising when you consider the nasty sting then can deliver when agitated. Wasps’ nests, however, go through a cycle and when the queen departs in autumn, the colony dies. However, if you cannot wait that long, then a pest control service in Brigg is the only safe way to be rid of wasps. Attempting to deal with the nest yourself could result in being stung several times, especially if the workers attack in a large group.

There are many other kind of pests that we deal with, from the smallest silver fish to rabbits, wasps, bees, rabbits, foxes, birds and so on…

How do you know if a Brigg pest control service can do what they say they can…?

This is a big question and many people will tell you they are a pest controller, but there are questions you can ask, such as…

  1. What qualifications do you have? Look for the industry standard ‘Pest Control & Management’, a certificate awarded by the Royal Society of Public Health
  2. How quickly can you respond? Those offering a Brigg pest control service will know that infestations strike on any day, at any time and for some people, having it dealt with as soon as possible, is imperative (e.g. food preparation and outlets)
  • Is your work guaranteed? Any offering pest control services will guarantee their work; with us, if we do not sort your pest problem the first time, we come back again until we have it sorted!
